"Be the change you want to see in the world…"

Often attributed to Mahatma Ghandhi, this quote embodies the vision and approach taken by NEST founders Dr Sam Margis and Dr Fran Arcuri. They were both trained as General Adult Psychiatrists but soon after completing their specialist qualifications they both sub-specialised further as Perinatal Psychiatrists.

They share the singular vision that treating women and their young families has the potential for the greatest change. They believe that positively impacting mental health from the earliest age - often even before the baby is born - can truly bring change in the world.

The perinatal mental health care that they directly provide and the general medical care they have orchestrated through their establishment of NEST, is just the beginning of this ambition. As passionate mental health advocates, they fight fiercely to de-stigmatise mental health by facilitating its treatment alongside all other areas of health and wellbeing, in the one location. In doing so, over the first decade of NEST’s existence, they have seen significant change in the way the community feels about, reacts to, and welcomes mental health treatment.
