Professional Background/Experience
Dr Simon Olenski is a General Physician. He completed his Fellowship training in General and Acute Care Medicine (Internal Medicine) and also trained for 3 years in Nephrology. Dr Olenski’s interests encompass complex chronic disease management for those with multiple co-morbidities, caring for adult patients across the whole lifespan from 18 years of age to those with advanced age and frailty, as well as managing acute medical conditions in hospital. He also enjoys caring for patients with chronic renal impairment and issues related to hypertension.
Dr Olenski has a strong interest in mind-body medicine and pays particular attention to the psychosocial determinants of his patients’ health. He has developed a growing interest in ADHD medicine too.
Dr Olenski’s current public appointment is with The Alfred Hospital in the Department of General Medicine. He obtained a Clinical Diploma of Palliative Medicine as part of his advanced training too. In addition to clinical work, Dr Olenski is actively involved in medical education. He has holds roles such as FRACP examiner, supervisor, mentor and educator to junior doctors and medical students.
