Professional Background/Experience
Dr Simon Olenski is a specialist General Physician. He completed his Fellowship training in General and Acute Care Medicine (Internal Medicine) and also trained for 3 years in Nephrology. 

Simon has a strong interest in getting to the 'root cause' of chronic health problems and takes a proactive approach to patient care, with a particular focus on the 'pillars of lifestyle medicine' which include: exercise, nutrition, sleep and mental health and wellbeing. 

Simon has a broad set of interests which also encompass complex chronic disease management for those with multiple co-morbidities, caring for adult patients across the whole lifespan from 18 years of age to those with advanced age and frailty, as well as managing acute medical conditions in hospital. He enjoys caring for patients with chronic renal impairment and issues related to hypertension.

Simon's current public appointment is with The Alfred Hospital in the Department of General Medicine. He obtained a Clinical Diploma of Palliative Medicine as part of his advanced training too. In addition to clinical work, Dr Olenski is actively involved in medical education. He holds roles including FRACP (College of Physicians) examiner as well as supervisor, mentor and educator to junior doctors and medical students.
