If you have a referral from a GP or a psychiatrist for a Mental Health Care Plan you will be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate of $131.65 (for a clinical psychologist) and $89.65 (for a general psychologist) per individual session for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
Once payment is processed we can submit your claim via our online system. Medicare advises us that these funds will appear in your bank account within 1-2 business days.
Private Health Insurance
If you have private health insurance that includes psychological counselling as extras cover you may be eligible for a partial rebate. It is recommended that you contact your individual insurance provider for further information about your individual coverage.
You cannot claim with both Medicare and Private Health Insurance.
Yes we can. However full payment must be made at the end of your consultation and you will be issued with a receipt for reimbursement purposes. We do not claim directly with the third party.
Sessions with a psychologist at NEST are for 50 minutes.
We understand life can become busy and, on some occasions, it may be difficult to attend a scheduled appointment. In these circumstances, we would appreciate as much notice as possible of your inability to attend an appointment so your appointment time can be allocated to another patient. We will also reschedule your appointment to a more convenient time.
In order to provide the best possible service to patients, all aspects of NEST operate on an appointment basis. Therefore, we are generally unable to fill appointment spaces that are cancelled late or not attended, disadvantaging other patients and our psychologists.
Accordingly, NEST has a late cancellation and non-attendance policy.
Appointments need to be cancelled by 5.00pm, two business days prior to the appointment. A late cancellation or non-attendance after this time will incur a $50.00 (plus GST) fee. A non-attendance (which includes a late cancellation made within two hours or less of the appointment) will incur a fee of $100.00 (plus GST). These fees cannot be claimed for with Medicare or private health insurance.
Please visit your GP to discuss your eligibility for a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP).
Once a MHTP has been obtained, you will be able to access a rebate for six sessions with a psychologist. Upcon completition of six sessions, you are required to make an appointment with your GP for a review of the MHTP. You are then able to access a rebate for a further four sessions.
AT NEST, we are passionate about supporting provisional psychologists as they complete their training. Our provisional psychologists are chosen carefully and are supervised by NEST Directors, Dr Sam Margis and Dr Fran Arcuri.
See below for our top six reasons to see a provisonal psychologist.
Our provisional psychologists are in their 6th and final year of training. All provisional psychologists are fully qualified and skilled in providing services to aid their clients in achieving their therapy goals. In addition to their university studies, they have done a year of supervised psychology work already.
Provisional psychologists are engaged in learning and are eager to put their years of training into practice. They are passionate about connecting with their clients and creating individualised treatment plans.
Provisional psychologists are up-to-date with the most current research and treatment approaches. They have access to excellent resources.
Provisional psychologists are supervised closely, having weekly sessions with their experienced supervisor providing guidance, support and access to knowledge!
There is generally a lesser wait time to see a provisional psychologist. And because a provisional psychologist is in their final year of training under supervision they often spend lots of extra time on their session planning, research and treatment plans for their clients.
You cannot claim a rebate with Medicare or Private Health Insurance when you see a provisional psychologist, but their fees are much cheaper to account for this. And there's no limit to how many times you can see them in a year!
