Professional Background / Experience
  • Medical Degree gained from Monash University.
  • Embarked on specialist training in psychiatry nearly 20 years ago.
  • Completed training in General Adult Psychiatry at Alfred Health.
  • Has held positions as Consultant Psychiatrist at Alfred Health in acute inpatient and outpatient mental health care settings, as well as role of Coordinator of Psychiatry Training and Education.
  • Developed and set up the Parent Infant Mental Health Service at Southern Health.
  • Undertook Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist roles at St John of God’s ‘Raphael Centre’ and Masada Mother Baby Unit for several years.
  • Passion and commitment to perinatal mental health extends to the current position at NEST as Director and Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist.
  • Is also credentialed Psychiatrist at Albert Road Clinic.

  • Specific interest in perinatal mental health.
  • From pre-conception to pregnancy and the post-natal period, comprehensive mental health assessment and individually tailored treatment options for women, their partners and their families are offered.  
  • Dr Arcuri is particularly focussed on working collaboratively with patients and offering a holistic approach to treatment so as to achieve optimal outcomes for both parents and their infants.
Areas of particular interest and expertise include:
  • Pre-conception assessment and advice.
  • Adjusting to pregnancy, the post-natal period and parenting.
  • Depression, Anxiety and other mental health disorders during pregnancy and the post-natal period.
  • Birth trauma.
  • Parent-infant attachment issues.
  • Relationship difficulties in the perinatal period.
  • Psychotropic medication during pregnancy and breast feeding.
  • Emotional difficulties related to infertility, including assisted reproductive treatments such as IVF.
  • Perinatal grief / loss.
Treatments offered include:
  • Individual psychotherapy, including Supportive, Cognitive Behavioural, Interpersonal and Psychodynamic Therapies.
  • Family and Couples Therapy.
  • Medication when needed.
Personal Interests Outside of Work
Outside of work, Dr Arcuri is a wife and mother of two children.
When she gets a free moment, she loves to exercise with a passion for Pilates and strength training.
She also enjoys the occasional beach holiday and reading a good book.
